For these waterway guides usually for each river section a double page is used, whereby the right half contains the map. This shows the river and about two kilometers of the bank in details and further all gas stations, taps, service locations, cranes, slipways, dealers, power stations, garbage disposal stations, shopping possibilities, restaurants, pharmacies, post offices, public phones, sanitary points, camping sites and much more. Anchorages, anchoring prohibited areas, water sports areas and other boating related and special zones are also marked. The river sections for each page are chosen in a smart way, so that a most straight course is shown and the chart does not have to be turned with the heading permanently.

On the left side you will find the according bridges together with the posted signs. Additionally important notes and information of the current section is given, e.g. operating times of locks, speed limits and instructions. Attractions and other objects of interest are also described, mostly with pictures.

Further the books contain chapters about traffic rules, general information, safety regulations, fees, addresses of service stations, water sports, etc. and give some good advice.
